Palatine's Deer Grove East Forest Preserve will be the place to be Saturday morning. Dunlap and Palatine will challenge for the Girls Championship; St. Xavier KY will be challenged by Hersey and Mundelein for the Boys Team Title

    Legendary Coach Vince Lombardi once said: "The Greatest accomplishment in life is not in never falling but in rising again after you fall." Rachel Hickey of LaSalle-Peru High School discovered that last spring when she finished second at the 2A State Track and Field Meet in the 800 Meter Run after winning that race the year before.     Illinois HS XC Weekend Highlights
    Conditions were not the best this past weekend with temperatures in the mid-80’s with high humidity. There were some meets that got their main races in but had to cancel open races at the end of their program. Even with the heat, there were some great performances turned in on Saturday. Deer Creek-Mackinaw (pictured) was impressive in winning the team title at Bureau Valley.     It did not feel like a mid-September morning. By the time that the Boys race started at 11:00 AM, temperatures had climbed to 82 degrees with the humidity close to 65%. The warm weather was not going to slow down Sandburg’s Dylan Jacobs (pictured) or Glenbard West’s Katelynne Hart as each runner was dominating in winning their individual races Saturday at Detweiller Park...
