Joe Newton passed away in his sleep Saturday morning, December 9, 2017. Mr. Newton was 88 years old.
The picture for this article was taken in 1978 after York won their seventh state championship. Mr. Newton was carried around the gym at Peoria HS after the awards ceremony. This is the only time that this happened.
